Nick Woodman established GoPro, Inc. It is an US technology company which is more commonly known as GoPro. GoPro develops its own mobile apps as well as video editing tools, in addition to making action cameras. Its headquarters are at the Californian state of San Mateo. The initial name of the company used to be Woodman Labs, Inc.

History
Nick Woodman started the business in 2002 when he started the business. The reason for his start was an excursion he took during 2002 in Australia in which he wanted to take pictures of surfers but was not able to achieve this because amateur photographers could not be close enough or buy quality equipment at a reasonable price.
Because “going pro” was the goal and the only way to capture video on the water, Woodman, and his surfing friends all wanted to become professional surfers. This is why the name “GoPro” originated. The Hero camera line is named after the idea of taking the action of surfing from a close distance which gave the subject an imposing appearance.

Following the establishment of the company, Woodman worked for two years on his first camera, before unveiling the GoPro 35mm Hero in September 2004 in the Action Sports Retailer trade show in San Diego.
